My role

Since the early stage, I have served as the Lead Product Designer and have had the privilege of interacting with diverse user groups, affording me the opportunity to gain a profound understanding of their unique perspectives.

Gain a multi-faceted perspective on patients' struggles.

At the begining, we collaborated with public hospitals in Vietnam to delve deeper into the diagnostic and examination routines of medical professionals for hypertension patients. Our aim was to gather valuable qualitative data through observing and conducting interviews with patients, and health professionals.

Findings from different aspects.

Taking medicine every day can be boring for patients. They often stop taking it when they feel a little better.

At check-ups, doctors request their patients to bring their blood pressure records, yet it's a common occurrence for the records to slip their mind.

Family plays a crucial role in monitoring and reminding patients about their medical condition.

Patients with hypertension often co-exist with other comorbidities and require concurrent monitoring.

Identifying user personas and key features

By categorizing qualitative data, we uncovered the User Personas and crucial features that have laid the foundation for constructing the information architecture of the main app screens.

Initial prototype for early testing

In our research, we developed prototypes with different conceptual approaches, which we presented to a diverse group of medical practitioners, including doctors, nurses, and hospital patients. This inclusive process allowed us to identify important product features and determine the specific needs of users. Additionally, it provided our product team with valuable expert feedback from respected healthcare professionals.

Bringing Elfie to life: Finalizing the core features

The results of the interviews and early testing were utilized to establish the essential elements for maintaining patient motivation in daily health tracking, vital monitoring, and medication adherence. These elements include the implementation of Elfie coins as incentives, which can be redeemed, donated, or used to play games.

Final design

In order to promote user motivation, a personalized progress plan is implemented onthe home screen. Users are rewarded with incentives for each action taken and are provided with reminders and encouragement to assist in the completion of the plan.

Elevating the experience: Enhancing Elfie beyond the minimum viable product (MVP)

Our user base, comprised of hospital patients and app store reviewers, provided numerous feedback regarding the complex nature of the medication management process in the original version of our application. In response to this feedback, we have made efforts to simplify the daily tasks associated with adding and taking medication. The updated version features a more convenient and streamlined process, with the addition of one or two taps to complete the necessary actions.
