My role

In my capacity as the design team lead, I worked in close collaboration with clients during discovery sessions, which involved conducting user interviews and user testing. This information was then utilized to create detailed user flows, wireframes, and a final design system.

Goals

The mobile application is designed to be utilized by both full-time and part-time translators on a daily basis, thereby enabling them to work with greater efficiency and independence.

Research

In addition to conducting observations and interviews to understand the everyday workflows of translators, we also conducted extensive research on competing and related products. This research aimed to gain insights that would inform the development of an innovative and highly competitive product.

Observing translators' previous workflows

By conducting a thorough analysis of the daily operations of a translator in a previous platform, we gained valuable insights into the various steps involved in the translation process. These insights have been instrumental in creating a preliminary outline for the proposed application's functionalities and user experience.

Streamlined workflow for reviewing and accepting assignments

The app's home page is designed to display all tasks, allowing users to quickly view and accept tasks as soon as they open the app. This approach aims to increase productivity by minimizing the time required to identify and accept tasks.

Establishing availability for efficient task reception

Our findings indicate that back-office administrators frequently utilize Google Calendar to assess the availability of translators and assign tasks. This method is only feasible for those who work full-time in the office. Conversely, the majority of part-time users face difficulties in effectively managing their schedules as they must rely on emailing the administrator to update their availability.

To address this issue, we have developed a feature within the application to enable all users to more proactively manage their free time and receive tasks at appropriate intervals.
